I APPEAL to the Minister for the Environment and the National Roads Authority (NRA) to abandon the proposal to introduce tolling on the proposed new major inter-city roads, including the Jack Lynch Tunnel in Cork.

Motorists currently pay €3.81 billion in various taxes and that figure will increase with the proposed petrol tax.

Less than one-third of that amount is returned to road investment.
