IT is most unfortunate that the Irish Examiner (December 21) chose to revive the myth that Israeli soldiers were responsible for the September 2000 death of Mohammed Jamal al-Dura.

This despite the fact that subsequent investigations, made public by the Atlantic Monthly and Germany's ARD Television, showed that all the physical evidence indicated the shots were not fired from the Israeli army outpost.

Rather, the 12 year-old was most likely killed by Palestinian gunmen shooting at the Israelis from a position near the boy.
