Why should taxpayers be left holding the baby?

AT the next budget the National Women’s Council should be told it’s not the role of the taxpayer to baby-sit their children.

Their wish to subsidise crèches locks into place a system that’s financially against stay-at-home parents already struggling with high house prices.

Also, the level of childcare in Europe is irrelevant. Europe has failed generally to reach a sustainable birthrate. I’m more than happy to work part-time, letting my husband be the main bread winner. It is very rewarding to spend time with our children.
