When lawmakers become lawbreakers

I READ recently that the Government is wilfully breaking agreed environmental laws.

It is not a serious problem because they can buy our way out of it for the trifling sum of around €300 million a year, which will swiftly be paid out of our taxes and/or further borrowings leaving TDs’ enormous salaries, expenses and pensions completely unaffected. So that’s OK.

I read at the same time that farmers who break environmental laws will lose their EU subsidies (and therefore their livelihood).

It must be so relaxing to be a politician and have no actual responsibility for anything.
