GPO clerks wanted to pay pensionsers
We would like to make the public aware of the following facts regarding the industrial action taken from June 13 to 16:
1. At no time would union headquarters confirm in writing to members whether the strike was official or unofficial.
2. Union headquarters blocked the payment of pensions, despite the fact that clerks in Cork were prepared to pay them on compassionate grounds.
3. Pressure was placed on certain personnel to take individual industrial action at Midleton Post Office.
