Israel and human values

IT has become all too common an exercise among some self-confessed intellectuals and guardians of equality to blame Israel for preaching racism.

They claim that Zionism is parochial and thus incapable of providing rights to those who are non-subscribers to Zionist/Jewish ideologies.

Israel has devoted itself to uplifting the oppressed.

It is a true multi-cultural country, where a sari-clad Indian can live peacefully with her black Ethiopian or white Anglo-Saxon neighbours.

Israel has also remained firmly committed to religious tolerance and individual thinking. Muslims living in Israel enjoy more freedom than their co-religionists in the Arab or Islamic world.

Israel stands for the oppressed and it does not deserve to be condemned.
