This now appears to be the bigger issue. The opposition’s problem is that it needs to raise the vote. It knows that there is little prospect of revitalising people’s interest in politics until some significant difference between the major parties re-emerges. While politicians engage in schoolyard politics real issues such as growth in inequality, increase in drug abuse, numbers of homeless people, earlier hospital discharge and closure of long-stay beds are put on the long finger.

While fat cat politicians dine on gourmet cuisine, which we pay for, via generous expense accounts, high food prices, have made basic essentials a luxury.
