US follows the ‘Little Billy’ line

SO, John Murphy from Utah (Letters, Feb 1) has cancelled his family holiday in Ireland this year.

US follows the ‘Little Billy’ line

If that is the way he runs his family, I feel sorry for Mrs Murphy and the children.

Surely, a good friend is one who tells you when he feels you are wrong. Bush is president of a state that likes to think of itself as the greatest democracy, but only because his brother would not allow the votes in Florida to be counted in time. He now tells the world: “if you are not with us, you are against us.”

Back in the 1950s, a little Dublin ‘wino,’ Billy McGuinness infested Speakers’ Corner in London with a cant: “I come from a long line of rebels. When Moses was in the desert, he said ‘them that’s not with us is agin us,’ and I’m Mcginus.” ‘Nuff said.
