I REFER to your New Year sports calendar for 2003. I was outraged when I read that the most important sporting event in Ireland in 2003 will be the Irish Open in Portmarnock.

The Special Olympics is the largest event Ireland has ever hosted and it will be the largest sporting event in the world this year.
