I AM used to driving from Cork to Dublin - the second and first cities of this State - and enduring the bad surface, ambiguous and arbitrary road markings, not to mention the interminable delays passing through towns and villages on the route.

The National Roads Authority cannot tell me how much of the 160 miles lack overtaking facility due to the single or double continuous white line.

Neither can they tell me the difference between those two markings - or town speed limits.
