Commercial salmon netting must end

I THOROUGHLY endorse the excellent article

Jeremy Paxman (Irish Examiner, February 19). The drastic decline in salmon stocks is a matter of concern for every one with an appreciation of what should be a national resource.

The remedies are obvious:

1) Cessation of all commercial drift and draft net fishing at sea and in estuaries;
