A SERIOUS property tax on holiday houses — private or commercial — is overdue.

It’s preposterous that we allow our most beautiful areas to be defiled just because someone can afford to build a house for amusement or rent.

Sadly, Charlie McCreevy is more likely to double rent allowance to social welfare dependents than to introduce a measure that would stop the string of haciendas choking our coastline.
