ON the six o’clock news as broadcast by RTÉ on Wednesday, July 30, the democratically elected leader of Fianna Fáil, Bertie Ahern, declared the following:

“The only business done at Galway (races) is the exchanging of tips, and that is only for losers.”

As I listened I could not help but wonder was the Fianna Fáil leader euphemistically declaring, if you are not in the inner circle you are basically a non-runner?
