The people’s harbour

CORK Harbour - the second largest natural harbour in the world after Sydney - is a wonderful aqua park, a glorious, God-given amenity.

From the sea angler in his traditional fishing boat to the Disney yacht at Cork Week, the harbour is enjoyed by people from all over the world. The spacious waters and fresh air are ours to use and enjoy. While industrial development is welcome and benefits many people, it must be remembered that this aqua park is first and foremost the people’s amenity and must be treated as such.

When planners are looking at development proposals, they must consider this very seriously before they contemplate taking even one square metre of water and handing it over to commercial developers.
