The only answer

THE EU/US summit at Dromoland Castle agreed a joint declaration on ‘peace, progress, and reform in the broader Middle East and in the Mediterranean,’ which covered the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.

In this declaration, the EU and the US reiterated their common vision of two states, Israel and a viable, democratic, sovereign Palestine, living side- by-side in peace and security.

This vision is contradicted, however, by President Bush’s backing for Ariel Sharon’s plans to annex Palestinian territory on the West Bank to Israel.
