City of Culture has one more job to do

THE Cork main drainage scheme is a truly colossal and momentous project which is now within sight of completion, together with the excellent upgrading of the paved areas of the city centre.

The frustration felt by many during the works hopefully will soon belong to the past as the much improved Cork gets set for its role as European City of Culture.

Now that the city council plans a celebration in September to mark the completion of works in Patrick Street, it would seem there is not much time left for the installation of the new street lighting system in keeping with the elegant sweep of the city’s main thoroughfare.
