Bus Éireann did not blame school parents

CAROLINE O’DOHERTY’S article on school buses headlined ‘Parents blamed for school bus seat fiasco’ (Irish Examiner, August 29) is misleading and potentially offensive to parents of schoolchildren using school transport.

Bus Éireann did not blame school parents

The article begins by stating that Bus Éireann has “blamed parents” for the “school bus seat fiasco.”

I would like to make it clear that Bus Éireann has at no time made - or ever would make - such an accusation.

As explained to Ms O’Doherty, the non-payment of school bus fees by the deadline is a common occurrence which has the potential to further complicate the process of efficient and speedy seat allocation.

This is a contributory factor in relation to some outstanding seat allocation issues, but Bus Éireann does not consider parents responsible for same.
