Why are city’s old buildings neglected?

I HAVE only been in Cork for two months after relocating my business from England.

Why are city’s old buildings neglected?

Can anyone explain to me, in the run-up to the capital of culture year, why all those old Victorian buildings are so rundown many of them empty?

You have only to walk around the city to see them. It's a shame.

Why is the city council not doing something about it?

They are very quick to allow the erection of so many ugly apartment blocks along the river hen boxes, and expensive ones at that.

Cork people should be proud of their city.

It must survive as a thriving legacy for future generations.
