Join the Pioneers

MUCH is made of the often inter-related evils of drink, drugs, violence and crime now afflicting so many of our young people.

There are no new solutions, but there is one that has helped before in Ireland. We must strengthen the Catholic home and raise the level of Catholic education, so that the parents of tomorrow will lay solid foundations for the next generation.

As thousands of young boys and girls are now being prepared for confirmation, I appeal to their parents and teachers, to encourage them to take the pledge until they are at least 18 years old and, better still, to join the Pioneers.
