FOLLOWING a recent train journey from Cork to Belfast I have three simple and inexpensive suggestions to make to Irish Rail to increase the comfort of their passengers.

Firstly, on the Enterprise train from Dublin’s Connolly station to Belfast the announcements were read in a slow and distinct manner and every passenger could clearly understand what was said.

Could Irish Rail please follow?

Secondly, on the Enterprise train the trolley service began not from the carriage next to the diner, but from the carriage farthest away from it. Could Irish Rail please follow?

Thirdly, also on the Enterprise, an attendant kindly came twice during the journey armed with a large plastic bag and collected waste from our tables.

Could Irish Rail please follow?

As the slogan goes, “every little helps”.
