Fly-by-night capitalists can’t take it with them
Would it not be more beneficial for these hide-and-seek capitalists to invest as shareholders on Irish soil to help the economy and those who are unable to put a roof over their heads?
There are more than 60,000 people on local authority housing lists, while
hundreds more are suffering on long waiting lists for admission to hospital.
What better way to invest than in facilities to help their fellow man. Just look at the lack of nursing care and shelter for the mentally and physically handicapped and for our old folk.
All such services are starved of finances, while wealthy Irish people run in trepidation to hide their money.
Successive governments were aware of the bogus non-resident accounts used to conceal income liable to tax in banks across the country and also to hide massive non-payments of DIRT.
If this money was invested here for the projects I have mentioned, what a better country this would be for all of us. Why this mad rush for the accumulation of wealth? We will all leave this world as naked as we entered it.
