For the record, Michelle still has her medals
I was merely pointing out in my letter published on September 1 that the Irish Examiner had listed all Irish Olympic gold medallists with the sole exception of Ms de Bruin.
Your correspondent says the written history of the Atlanta games will record that Michelle de Bruin received three golds and a bronze.
This is true and I believe they should be treated as such since the medals were never stripped from her by the International Olympic Committee in the same way that Ben Johnson, for example, had his gold medal taken away from him in 1988.
