US is capitalising on 9/11 tragedy

THE victims of the September 11 terrorist attack on the US were mourned and remembered on the first anniversary of that atrocity, and rightly so.

What happened was a despicable act that cannot be excused.

However, it is equally despicable to use those deaths as a pretext for yet more death and destruction. Nonetheless, I have no doubt that President Bush will evoke the memory of the dead innocents of New York and Washington as his bombs pile up more dead innocents in Baghdad and other Iraqi cities.
