Excuse my choice of language - or learn it

IN answer to Beth Sherrard (‘Lost in Translation,’ Irish Examiner letters, June 23), I wrote my letter in English (‘Hold the front page for little more Irish,’, June 17) because I felt it had a greater chance of being published.

Maybe, as an Irish speaker, she was surprised I did not respond to Harry McGee’s article in Irish as well. Má’s fíor é sin, ta brón orm. Or maybe, as a non-Irish speaker, she felt rejected that she did not understand the article in Irish in the first place.

The remedy, of course, is to learn the language.
