RYLE DWYER launched an astonishing attack on the GAA in his recent article (Irish Examiner, January 31).

In it, he stated that the GAA, with the Catholic Church, were the greatest promoters of partition. It is very difficult to understand how he could come to such a conclusion.

The GAA is not an inanimate object; it has nearly one million members. Throughout its history, it has been organised on a 32-county basis and its All-Ireland senior hurling and football championships date from 1887.
