Three non-English regiments in action

WITH regard to the Diarmuid O’Donnell’s letter entitled ‘British regiments – but where are the English?’ (Irish Examiner, March 20), I would like to point out an error.

Three non-English regiments in action

There are no Welsh or Ghurka regiments serving in the war with Iraq.

The non-English regiments are the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, the Irish Guards and the Royal Irish Regiment or three units from approximately 51 units of the British Army serving in the operation.

How to get ahead

I'M thinking of buying an old ambulance as an all-purpose utility vehicle, a sort of clappedout Humvee.

It could conceivably serve as surveillance post, chip van, mobile whiskey still, rubbish haulage and detox unit.

Will I need a permit?

And could I get away with using the bus lanes?

Just checking.

Mountrath,
