WHEN I visited Ireland in September, I read about the discussion on the need for incineration plants.

The German solution

As a process engineering student I worked for some months in a sewage incineration plant in an industrial park in Frankfurt.

I was surprised to read about the worries of some people on this issue in Ireland as burning waste in Germany is a common way of dealing with it. In and around Frankfurt there are several kinds of incineration plant near residential areas for sewage, chemical waste and household waste.
