€10m disaster aid is still far too little

GOVERNMENT spokespersons have been praising themselves for having contributed as much per capita as any other country to the Asian disaster fund.

€10m disaster aid is still far too little

They managed, at the third attempt, to reach €10 million.

I still think it’s derisory... it should be at least €50m. Martin Cullen had no problem blowing that kind of money on the e-voting fiasco.

The Government should also stop dithering and send out the army who could offer a lot to people who are desperate for our help. Would it not be a good idea also if the health service offered to pay some of our experienced nurses their basic salaries for a few weeks so that they, too, could join the mercy mission?
