€250m fine will come out of our pockets

THE Government has admitted it will have to pay about €250 million as a fine for exceeding agreed pollution limits.

Leaving aside the appalling mismanagement and broken promises which we expect from this Government, it would have been more honest if they had stated we would have to pay the €250m from our taxes.

This could have been spent on hospitals, sensibly priced housing, roads, transport infrastructure, better primary schools, etc for us.

It is an astounding admission and could easily have been accompanied by a photo of Bertie thumbing his nose at us.
