Dashed dreams and discrimination

AM I the only one to have taken offence to the Taoiseach when, in attempting to justify the Government’s ban on countries attending the Special Olympics, he referred to the fact that during the foot-and-mouth outbreak they banned racehorses from coming to some race meetings in Ireland?

Dashed dreams and discrimination

Does he imagine that there is a comparison between banning racehorses (where the only loss is financial) and banning disabled athletes from attending the Special Olympics?

Has he no conception of the amount of work that these athletes will have put into their preparations for the games? Or the heartbreak they are now facing, now that he has dashed all their dreams and not just the athletes, but all their families and friends.
