I WAS glad to read the article by your reporter Eoin English about Cork Airport (Irish Examiner, February 14) and your editorial which reflected the current problem in a clear way.

Cork Airport was disadvantaged over the years by the political clout of Shannon and the patronising attitude of the Dublin-based controllers.

Cork always paid its way, and it was galling to read Junior Minister Tony Killeen’s comments that Shannon ‘paid’ for Cork.
