Jail staff will have to relocate their families
Talks are ongoing at the Labour Relations Commission to resolve the issue of prison officers’ overtime.
The media are being issued with overtime earnings for staff under McDowell’s version of annualised hours which, despite all the spin, are family-unfriendly. Prison staff in four of the prisons that are to close will have to relocate their families, yet they voted under threat to reject the Minister’s offer by over 99%.
