Status of the strand

IN your report on Ireland’s Blue Flag beaches (Irish Examiner, June 6), Garrettstown is referred to as having Blue Flag status.

Status of the strand

This is not so.

The strand with this status is White Strand in the townlands of Garrylucas, Lizpatrick Lower, often referred to as Garrylucas Strand.

The strand that most people know as Garrettstown is the northmost on the Old Head Peninsula.

This strand is correctly known as Traigh A Lairn, but referred to by most people nowadays as Garrettstown Strand.
