Any culchie or jackeen could have done better

THE thugs involved in assaulting the gardaí, as well as the looters, vandals and drunks deserve severe censure and careful analysis of their backgrounds.

Any culchie or jackeen could have done better

All true democrats must defend the right of all the people to protest within the law and equally to uphold the freedom of expression.

However, we must be careful to avoid premature judgement. We should demand that we get the truth and not spin from the Government, the Garda Commissioner and the intelligence sources on the failures that resulted in the debacle that shamed Dublin

The only people to achieve a positive result from the Dublin debacle are some Ulster loyalist elements and their associates in the DUP.

Mr McDowell and the Garda top brass combined to score a devastating own goal that demands more to explain away than the totally inadequate excuses being put forward to date.

Any culchie or jackeen could have advised them of the potential for trouble the Love Ulster march posed, and the impact any untoward incidents would have on North South relations.

The distance from reality Mr McDowell, Noel Conroy and their intelligence services are, is now of extreme concern to every responsible resident of Ireland.
