DESPITE the Taoiseach’s claim to the contrary, I can testify that I have seen Ruairi Quinn in Lansdowne Road on several occasions.

However, I have only seen him stand with the fans on the terraces, so perhaps the Taoiseach couldn’t see him from the ivory tower that is the VIP box. I understand that Mr Quinn, unlike the Taoiseach, has even played at Lansdowne Road. A case of jealousy, perhaps?
