Bertie performs poorly as a criminal detective

IN the fallout from the Northern Bank heist, Sinn Féin and the IRA have not come up smelling of roses. But as someone who believes in due process I am willing to reserve judgement until Bertie’s evidence is publicised.

Bertie performs poorly as a criminal detective

However, given that he was at one point up every tree in north Dublin and could not find evidence that Ray Burke took corrupt payments, I cannot really value his opinion on criminal matters.

Now that Burke has been convicted and is behind bars I can only conclude that Bertie’s powers of detection must be more akin to those of Inspector Clouseau than Poirot.
