Salmon protest

THE Irish salmon is facing an unprecedented crisis. Stocks are devastated and many rivers are now practically devoid of salmon. But there is a solution.

An end to drift netting has been advocated by many interests. The drift net community favour a resolution that will see them secure appropriate compensation.

Unfortunately, Fianna Fáil’s persistence with the failed policy of drift netting makes it the biggest threat to the future of the Irish salmon at present.

It is a position that many party members are deeply unhappy with.

Like hundreds of others I’ll be rallying outside the árd fheis today to save the Irish salmon.

It’s a cause worth fighting for.
