Police action needed on house-breaking

AN urgent programme of police action to prevent criminal gangs roaming through housing estates and breaking into the homes of elderly people is now needed in Limerick.

The rise in home breaking is one of the fastest crime sectors yet the police response has been inadequate.

All around the northside of the city, people in estates and those living in isolated rural parts are terrified of these roaming gangs.
