Slaughter of the innocents
We believe, as stated by London Mayor Ken Livingstone, that this was not a terrorist attack against the mighty and the powerful; it was not aimed at presidents or prime ministers; it was aimed at ordinary, working-class Londoners, black and white, Muslim and Christian... young and old. It was an indiscriminate attempt at mass murder.
On behalf of our members, I offer our deepest sympathy and condolences to all the victims and their families and to all the people of London and Britain.
This barbaric act of terrorism is an affront to all civilised human beings and to JCI members who endeavour to achieve world peace and justice.
The images showing the devastation and pain caused by the attacks will remain forever in our minds, rekindling our determination to do whatever it takes to achieve our fundamental goal of world peace and respect for human rights.
JCI believes in faith, brotherhood, justice, free enterprise, human potential, and service to humanity.
As young leaders committed to these principles, we repudiate the acts of terrorism in London which have shattered peace, freedom and security.
I encourage all JCI members to express their solidarity with all those affected by these abhorrent acts and to lead efforts to create public opinion against terrorism, a scourge that prevents us from developing as civilised people.
