Liberal wing to blame for church problems
Some, like TP O’Mahony begin with the letters page to see if someone has complained about him.
TP’s need to go against the grain is like a pupil in class taking the opposite view in every argument, to the delight of the teacher but to the annoyance of the class.
This need for attention is again displayed in his article on Pope John Paul II (Irish Examiner, April 4).
TP refers to the liberal wing and the Pope’s failure to address its values. These liberal views are responsible for the breakdown of the church in this country, where now the majority wants to blame the church, the priests, the bishops and the Pope for everything.
We are the church and, unfortunately, many are afraid to speak up against these liberals. The teaching of the church is based on scripture, which should not be diluted to the point that it holds no values.
