Incinerator site in a pollution blackspot

JOHN AHERN, Indaver Ireland’s director, claims incineration is not a threat to human health.

At the time he wrote his letter (Irish Examiner, November 12), he already had been given a licence by the Enviornmental Protection Agency (EPA) permitting the release of up to 80 kg of mercury into the environment each year.

The Cork harbour region is Ireland’s most polluted area - according to a European survey released early this year. Indaver’s choice of Ringaskiddy shows they’re trying to be very clever.
