APART from the ‘tadhg a dhá thaobh’ stance of Ryle Dwyer in his column on a ‘week of apologies’ (Irish Examiner, February 12), he cannot pass up any chance to denigrate the men and women who fought and died for Irish independence.

Last month it was the attack, in a very personal manner, on Gen Tom Barry and his men. This month it is the very subtle attempt to criminalise Paddy Moran, when he states he was hanged for the wrong ‘crime.’

Both Tom Barry and Paddy Moran were fighting a war, Ryle.
