Emigrants call foul on RTÉ’s suspension of Gaelic sports coverage

AS a native of Tyrone I wish to express my total dissatisfaction with RTÉ’s decision to discontinue sports coverage on long and medium wave radio on Sunday afternoons.

I live in Evesham in Worcestershire where there is a sizeable Irish population. We do not have access to pubs and clubs where Gaelic sports are shown. The nearest live games are shown in the pubs around Birmingham, a two-hour drive on a good day.

How far would RTÉ executives go to watch a football match? Would they leave their ivory tower in Donnybrook and go to Wexford? I think not.
