Queue-jumpers should get to know their place

I WISH to complain about the appalling decline of road manners as evidenced in Cork nearly every evening on the road to Carrigaline.
Queue-jumpers should get to know their place

As the traffic starts queuing at the top of Carr’s Hill, where the climbing lane ends and the road merges with traffic coming from Douglas, nearly all drivers move to the right-hand lane (out of the climbing lane) and those at the back switch on their hazard lights to alert other drivers that traffic is at a standstill.

Most people then sit patiently in the queue until the traffic moves on. This can sometimes take up to 20 minutes, as cars turning right onto the Board of Works Road, 200-300 metres further on, cause delays.
