Law and justice clash

A POINT the jailing of the five Mayo men for contempt of court in the recent gas pipeline controversy must bring to light is that one may be kept in jail indefinitely for such a "crime".

Even for murder one can look forward to a definite release date. Is the taking of a person's life of less consequence than insulting a State institution?

Law is merely a human convenience for the better running of society and law and justice do not always coincide.
