Save the portraits, but forget the people

IT is indicative of the mess that the UN is in that it should establish a rapid reaction force to save works of art from destruction in times of war or natural disaster when it hasn’t yet established such a force to save lives.

I have visions of snatch squads of blue berets rushing past injured and traumatised people to get to the art galleries and museums to evacuate their contents by helicopter to areas of safety.

What a strange world we live in.
