Let’s show them an old Irish tactic: the boycott

SURELY it’s time to use the Irish invention of 'boycott' against Israelis and Americans who quite shamelessly declare their firm intention to kill hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, to make another million or two homeless and to take Iraqi oil in payment for the cost of it all.

Let’s show them an old Irish tactic: the boycott

Are we men, mice or Christians? We’ll be asked some day, you know.

Did anyone see the starving Turks in bread queues refuse the American bribe of billions to base their attack on Turkish soil? Bully for them.

It will cost us, too, to refuse Israeli and US goods. But we can start small. We can start by going off American films for Lent, and by refusing to watch them on TV. Tell RTE to reject them.

We can refuse to buy any English publication that advocates or supports such breathtakingly open disregard for simple justice.

We can write to Israeli businesses in and out of Ireland inviting them to declare their position.

And we can let all we meet who side with Bush, Blair and Israel know what we think of them. That includes our own politicians at all levels. We have to do something to help, or we’re in danger of being disowned by Christ. Christ today is in Iraq.
