Livestock heat stress warning

Ireland: The Department of Agriculture and Food yesterday reminded all farmers and livestock transporters that animals are at risk from heat stress during hot summer weather.

The Department said this particularly applies to pigs and poultry, while housed or during transport.

Those in charge of animals on-farm or during transport are legally obliged to ensure all necessary measures are taken to prevent any unnecessary suffering.
