Politicians back father’s fight for the full story

WE are writing to express our support for the campaign for a thorough review of the Garda investigation into the death of Kevin Reilly, a 16-year-old teenager fatally stabbed in Tallaght on February 15, 1992.

Politicians back father’s fight for the full story

In the years since the tragedy, Kevin’s father, Joe Reilly, has almost single-handedly campaigned for a review of the Garda investigation and for the case to be looked at again.

Mr Reilly is not campaigning for a retrial or for revenge, but simply for justice, for the truth finally to be told 11 years after the death of his son.

In this regard he has collected over 18,000 signatures on a petition about the case and lobbied extensively for a hearing.

Since Kevin’s death, several ministers have come and gone without any resolution of the matter.

We are calling on the Minister for Justice to agree to a review of the Garda investigation.

The minister has stated he is satisfied that the case was the subject of a full and proper Garda investigation.

Mr Reilly certainly is not, and has identified enough discrepancies that, as well as instituting a review, we believe the minister should agree to a meeting with Mr Reilly to hear his side of the story.
