FINANCE Minister Charlie McCreevy’s estimates indicate that as a result of benchmarking, public services are to be cut.

However, given that our civil servants are now more dynamic, efficient and enthusiastic as a result of the benchmarking process, of course they will be capable of maintaining the same level of service to the public at less cost to the taxpayer.
